Personal Growth Statement Alex Nalivaiko
My first two years in high school I was a student that had poor grades; I had the grades to participate in sports, just barely. It wasn’t until my final two years in high school that I focused on my studies to raise my grades. My high school didn’t care about the average student, to receive any sort of attention you had to either be a poor student or an excellent student. The change in my academic performance was due to a coach believing in my and motivating me to work on my grades. I’m taking the minimum of 12 credits right now; adjusting, learning how college works, getting to know the people here, that sort of stuff. I don’t know what I want to major in or what I want to do for a living. I took a block schedule that some lady said would help me in most career fields so that’s what I did. I would like to become involved with either football or baseball next year but, this year I really want to focus on getting a good start with my grades. I don’t want to fall into the same situation I did in early high school where my grades almost held me even going to college.
