Amanda Brock 10/13/05 Personal and Professional Growth Statement

In high school I didn’t do as well academically as I could have. The role of student isn’t an easy one for me to fill. I spent a lot of my life teaching my self and sometimes instruction is hard to take. However I love to learn new things and as a result I love new classes and challenges. My senior year I was very involved in many clubs and sports teams, I was in GSA, coached softball, did swim team as well as many other activities. My strengths as a student would be my organizational skills, I keep a detailed planner of assignments, due dates, test, ect. My weakness would be motivation. I find my self getting frustrated and fighting off due dates. My learning strength would be that I love to learn. However, I don’t take criticism well. With extra curricular activities I tend to be very involved, at times I can be over involved and take on too much. By the end of fall term I would like to find motivation and a routine for doing my homework. I would also like to work on taking criticism and growing from it. The steps that could assist me in making this transition would be to not only have a schedule but to follow it 100% of the time. Another helpful thing would be when receiving criticism not to take it personally and to remember that this will improve my work.
