Weekly Reflections 10/10 – 10/16
In the last week I have had many classroom experiences. The experience that I would find as the most memorable would be learning how to perform “Gathering the Pezcods.” In this class a group of college students spent one hour on a Thursday morning holding hands and prancing in circles. Dancing is a wonderful way to get comfortable around people you’ve never met. Most of those present were doing something that they had no previous experience with and many just looked foolish doing it. It was a wonderful and memorable experience.
I participated in national Coming Out Day. I found this experience to be significant because it was my first college event with Triangle Alliance. I helped out at a booth and got the opportunity to observe the older members of the club interact with the public. It gave me the chance to get to know the leaders while they were leading. There was also a panel discussion around Coming Out Day for individual members to express their views and experiences. I really enjoyed hearing from these people as individuals and seeing them at work in the public eye.
