Network Accounts
Students, faculty, and staff use www.wou.edu/accountlookup to discover the network user name and campus email address and to set or reset the password. The old password does not need to be entered in order to change to a new password. In fact, the student can "reset" the password to the string they thought was supposed to work, as in the network/email issue below.
Students use their Social Security Number (SSN) on accountlookup, except international students use a SEVIS number. If a student does not know the SEVIS number, have them speak to the International Student and Scholars Office.
The accountlookup function is designed to simultaneously change the passwords for (at least) two separate systems: a) the network (controlling the initial computer logon and the file services) and b) the email. Occasionally, the password change will fail for the email system. Have the student perform the accountlookup process again, and it should work. If not, however, have them call the Service Request Desk.
WebCT Accounts
WebCT accounts are not tied technically to the network, but the
WebCT accounts are created with the same usernames as are used on the network. So if the student is jdoe06 on the network, he is also jdoe06 on
WebCT. However, the default password on
WebCT is the last 4 digits of the student's V number. The student can and should change the default password within
WebCT.
If a student claims to have a class using
WebCT and he is unable to log in, have him email Scott Carter at
carters@wou.edu with his user name, v number, and the class he is needing to access.
