Acceptable Use Document

  • Safety First: Don't post personal information

    • Do not engage in personal conversations with strangers on the internet.

    • Do not post personal information online, such as name, address, phone number, etc.

    • Do not share your passwords with anyone.

    • Do not post the personal information of other students, teachers, or parents.

    • Do not meet with someone you met on the Internet without approval.

    • Do tell officials about inappropriate messages.

  • Legality: Do not hack

    • Do not disrupt, degrade, or vandalize the school's computer hardware, software, or any other aspect of the school's information technology system.

    • Do not use computer for illegal acts.

  • Appropriate language: Do not use obscene or profane language

    • Do not post falsehoods or rumors.

    • Do not post defamatory, libelous, reckless, or maliciously false information.

    • Do not post anything promoting discrimination, hate, or discontent.

    • Do not participate in online harassment or intimidation.

  • Maintenance: Use computer appropriately

    • Always get permission before downloading anything onto the computer

    • Always get permission before installing any software onto the computer

    • Always tell officials immediately of computer problems

  • Inappropriate material: The school maintains an appropriate content filter

    • Do not use the computer to access or distribute profane or obscene materials

    • Obscene materials include, but are not limited to: material that is harmful to minors, obscene images as defined by law or district policy, a product or service not permitted to minors by law.

    • Parents of minors should be aware that the filtering software is not infallible and that users may be able to access inappropriate materials

  • Copyrights: Do not plagiarize

    • Plagiarism: Presenting someone else's words, ideas, artistry, product or data as one's own, or presenting an idea or product from an existing source as new and original.

  • The use of the district's network is a privilege.

  • Parents have the right to restrict their child's internet access.
